Studio materials, works and rates
The «Materials» and «Works and rates» tabs of the «Price list and norms» page: what the studio buys and for how much (a sheet, roll, bar or pack with its sizes), the purchase price converted into the consumption price, work rates per hour, shift, piece, m² or running m, outsourced work with its lead time, a price list upload by the template and the price history. Available in beta to everyone, no invitation needed.

How to use it
- Choose «Production», then «Price list and norms» on the left. At the top are the tabs «Materials», «Works and rates» and «Consumption norms».
- On the «Materials» tab, pick a form in the «All shapes» list: sheets, rolls, running (bars), piece, paints and liquids. The «Mine» / «AURA examples» switch separates your materials from the platform's examples. Find a material by searching by name, code, supplier or article number.
- Click «New material»: section, title, form, consumption unit and sizes (a 2800×2070 mm sheet, a 1.26×50 m roll, a 6 m bar, a 2.7 l can). In the «Purchase» block, enter the purchase price and what it is for: a sheet, roll, bar or pack. Right below the price you see what it converts to, for example «724.64 ₽ per m²».
- There you can also set waste, purchase rounding, minimum order, lead time, supplier, article and price date. Then click «Save».
- On the «Works and rates» tab, click «New rate»: the kind (work, equipment, outsourced, service), how we pay (per hour, per shift, piecework per piece, per m² or per running m), the rate and the work centre. For a piecework rate, write what counts as a piece, for example «joint».
- Click a row: a card opens (on the right, or as a sheet on a narrow screen) with how the price was converted, all the details of the material or rate and the «Price history». The «Approve», «New version» and «Copy to the studio» buttons work as they do for norms. Only the price can be changed right in the row: «Set your price» on an AURA example or «Change price» on your own row.
Purchase price and consumption price
- A material is bought in one unit and consumed in another. An MDF sheet 2800×2070 for 4,200 ₽ is 5.796 m², so 724.64 ₽ per m². A 6 m profile bar for 1,560 ₽ is 260 ₽ per metre. A 1.26×50 m roll of film for 12,600 ₽ is 200 ₽ per m². A 2.7 l can of enamel for 1,350 ₽ at 0.12 l per m² is 60 ₽ per m² of a coat.
- AURA converts the price by the sizes on the material's card. If sizes are missing or the units are unrelated (a sheet into kilograms), the material shows «no price» with the reason, for example «missing: sheet width». AURA never puts a zero instead of a price.
- Calculators take a material's price in the unit they count in. If a calculator needs a price per m² and the material is bought by the sheet, AURA converts it. Norms without sizes and without a purchase price count as before.
- Waste and purchase rounding are kept on the material: product calculations and purchasing will need them. Prices exclude VAT.
Material variants: each version with its own price
- One material comes in different versions with different prices: a banner with UV print and with solvent print, fabric from different suppliers. Click «Set your price» or «Change price» at the row, then «Add an option», type the «Variant name» and the price and click «Save the variant».
- The row stays as it was, and the variant stands under it in «Mine» with the caption «Variant of «…»». A variant has its own price, its own price history and its own versions. A variant with the same name is saved as a new version, not as a second row.
- The decor calculator shows an «Option» list at a row with variants: the price list row itself and all its variants with prices. The row is counted by the one chosen, without a choice by the row itself. More in the article «Decor calculator».
- In the order estimate calculators (fabric, frame, cladding and print, paint, sewing, sheet, floor covering) an «Option» list appears under a «… from norms» field when the chosen row has variants. The field is counted by the chosen variant, the choice is kept in the calculation, and «Recalculate» takes the variant's current price. The variants are not repeated in the list of rows: they stand only in «Option».
- In studio products the «Material options» block of the calculator shows each row of the composition that has variants. Choose a variant, and every line of the product with this material or work is counted by its price. The choice is saved with the calculation and goes into the estimate.
- If the chosen variant was removed from the price list, the calculation counts by the row itself and says «The chosen option is no longer in the price list».
Works and rates in their own units
- A rate is kept in the unit you pay by: a welder 180 ₽ per joint, CNC 2,500 ₽ per hour, an installer 4,000 ₽ per shift, film lamination 950 ₽ per m². AURA does not accept a rate per another unit.
- «Outsourced» is work you give to a contractor, for example powder coating at 650 ₽ per m² with a 4-day lead time. The lead time will be used to check whether you are in time for the installation.
- Each rate is tied to a work centre: carpentry, metal, painting, print, sewing, installation. The list of work centres opens with «Studio work centres» in «⋯» next to «New rate»: you can change the work centres in the window.
- Trucks and overheads for an order live here too. A truck of the «Service» kind has its body size, payload, kilometres included in the trip and the price of an extra kilometre; a row of the «Overheads» kind says what to suggest the quantity by. The order's «Installation and logistics» tool reads them.
- The «Works and rates» menu has «Minimum montage shift»: how many hours an installer is paid even if the work is shorter. 10 h by default, from 1 to 24. The decor calculator takes it for new calculations, and it can be changed in a calculation. The same setting is in «Studio order rules».
Upload a supplier's price list
- On the «Materials» tab, click «Upload price list», then «Download template». While you have no materials of your own, on a computer it is the main button of the head; once you have them, it is in «⋯» next to «New material». On a phone it is always in «⋯».
- Fill in the template: code, title, section, form, consumption unit, sizes, purchase unit and price, supplier, article, price date, lead time and waste. The code links a price list row to a material: platform materials show it on their card, for example mat-mdf-16.
- Click «Choose file». AURA shows each row: a new version of your material, a copy of a platform material or a new material, the consumption price «Was» and «Will be» and the change in percent. Rows with errors are highlighted and are not uploaded. A price that cannot be converted into the consumption unit (for example, a sheet without its sizes) is an error too: AURA says what is missing.
- Click «Upload rows». Each row becomes a new version «Under review», the old price stays in the history. Estimates counted earlier do not change.
Price date and old prices
- Every price has a date: set it on the card or in the price list, otherwise it is the day the price was saved.
- A price older than 30 days is highlighted in the list and in the card. The «Old prices» filter leaves only such materials in the list: check them with the supplier before the estimate.
Price history
- The material or rate card shows the «Price history»: all versions of this row in the studio and the platform price, with the purchase price, date and author.
- A new price is always a new version. Calculations made with the old price do not change; an estimate is recalculated only with its button.
Beta: open to everyone
- The «Materials» and «Works and rates» tabs are part of professional-level production. Since 7 October 2026 they are open to everyone, no invitation needed.
- Materials and rates with the «Example» status are AURA's conditional starter prices. Copy them to the studio and set your prices, or upload your price list.
- If you find a mistake, open «⋯» next to the heading and click «Leave feedback».
Frequently asked questions
- How is a material different from a consumption norm? A material is what you buy and its price. A consumption norm says how much material one unit of a product takes, for example 6 m of profile per 1 m² of frame. Calculators take the price from the material and the consumption from the norm.
- Why does a material show «no price» although it has a purchase price? AURA could not convert it into the consumption unit: a sheet size, a bar or roll length or the consumption per m² of a coat is missing. The reason is written under the price.
- Where did the materials go from «Consumption norms»? Materials and works now have their own tabs; «Consumption norms» keeps the consumption norms and factors.
- Where do materials and rates count in products? In the decor calculator on the «Studio products» tile: each product line takes its price from this library by code, with the waste and rounding to a sheet or a bar.
