Price list and norms: the studio's consumption norms

The «Price list and norms» page (formerly «Norms and materials») keeps the studio's consumption, prices and factors: how much profile goes into a square metre, what the assembly of a drapery is, how much a fabric or a crew's day costs. The norms are on the «Consumption norms» tab and the prices on the «Materials» and «Works and rates» tabs. Calculators and estimates count by these norms and remember their version. Available in beta to everyone, no invitation needed.

How to use it

  1. Choose «Production», then «Price list and norms» on the left, and then the «Consumption norms» tab. The calculator links here too: the «Price list and norms» button in its header.
  2. Above the table, pick a section in the «All sections» list, for example «Metal», «Banner», «Fabrics», «Painting», «Works» or «Overheads». The number of norms is shown next to the section name.
  3. The «Mine» / «AURA examples» switch separates your norms from the platform's examples: they are never mixed. Find a norm by searching by name, code, supplier or place of use, and the «No price» button leaves only the norms there is nothing to count by.
  4. Click a norm's row: a card opens on the right (as a sheet on a narrow screen) with how the norm counts («How we count»), what is known about it, its versions and the action buttons.
  5. To add a norm, click «New norm»: name, section, consumption per unit and the unit it applies to, price and what it is for, factors, source and date. Then click «Save norm».
  6. To change a norm, click «New version», describe what changed and click «Save version». The new version goes to review.
  7. Platform norms are shared by all studios and are changed by administrators. To change such a norm for yourself, click «Copy to the studio». The copy gets the same «Code» as the platform norm, and the studio's calculators, the decor calculator included, count by the copy. A repeated copy is saved as a new version of the same studio norm. The copy keeps the platform norm's «Section» and the unit in «Price per»: the calculator finds the price by them.

Example, under review, approved

  • «Example» is a norm from a conversation or an example that nobody has checked yet. «Under review» is a new version awaiting approval. «Approved» means the norm has been checked.
  • Until a norm is approved, the estimate and the calculator show its row with a mark, for example «Norm v2 · example, not approved» or «Example price, not approved yet». You can calculate with it, but check the numbers before sending anything to the client.
  • The status is shown in the last column of the list and in the row card: there is no separate filter by status.
  • A studio norm is approved by its owner with the «Approve» button; platform norms are approved by administrators. After that, new estimates count by the norm without a mark.

Norm versions and estimates

  • A norm is never changed in place: every change creates a new version, and the previous ones stay in the «Versions» list with the author and date.
  • Estimates remember the norm version. Calculations made with the previous version do not change: the estimate shows a «Rows by norms that have a newer version» bar, and the rows are updated only when you click «Recalculate».
  • A price you saved in the decor calculator with «Save to price list» is also stored here as a new version of the norm.
  • The «Code» joins the versions of one norm and links a decor calculator row to its price. AURA sets the code: it is shown in the norm form but cannot be changed. Copies made before 06.10 got a new code, so the decor calculator counted by the platform norm. Copy such a norm once more, and the calculator will count by the copy.

Your own price instead of an AURA example

  • Every row of the price list has a button on the right: «Set your price» on an AURA example, «Change price» on a studio row. On a phone it is under the row. The button opens a form right under the row: type the price per the row's unit and click «Save to Mine»; on a studio row the button is called «Save the price». The same button is in the row's card next to «Copy to the studio».
  • Your own price is approved at once: the studio sets it itself, as with «Save to price list» in the calculator. For an AURA example a copy of the row with the same «Code» and your price appears in «Mine», and calculators and estimates count by it at once. The next price is saved as a new version, the previous one stays in the history.
  • «Set your price» changes only the price: consumption, units, section and source stay as in the row. To change the whole row, click «Copy to the studio»: the norm form opens and the copy goes for review.
  • If the price of a work per m² or per running metre is much higher than usual, the form warns you: it may be the price for the whole job. If the price is right, click «Save anyway».
  • The form has «Add an option»: this is how you add another version of a material with its own price, for example a banner with UV print. More in the article «Studio materials, works and rates».

Units, prices and factors

  • Consumption is set as the amount of the consumption unit per 1 base unit, for example 6 m of profile per 1 m² of frame. If there is no consumption rate, the base unit and the consumption unit must be the same.
  • A price is set per its own unit: running metre, m², roll, sheet, piece, litre, trip, man-day and others. A price per metre is not applied to square metres: the calculator refuses to count if the units do not match.
  • Factors refine the calculation: complexity, bending, losses, reserve, cutting waste, wrap allowance, roll length.
  • A norm with no price gives an estimate row «no price», not zero. Prices exclude VAT. In the list the price is in the «Consumption or price» column, and the row card shows «Source» and «Price date».
  • Project calculators see the platform norms and the norms of the project owner, that is, the studio whose estimate it is.
  • Materials and work rates have their own tabs «Materials» and «Works and rates»: they show how a material is bought (a sheet, roll, bar) and what its price converts to. More in the article «Studio materials, works and rates».

Beta: open to everyone

  • «Price list and norms» is part of «Production» and since 4 October 2026 is available to every account, no invitation needed. An AURA administrator can close the module again to everyone except invited people on the «Beta access» tab: if you do not see the item in the «Production» section, contact support.
  • If you notice a mistake or something is missing, open «⋯» next to the heading and click «Leave feedback»: the Aura team will see the feedback together with the page address.

Frequently asked questions

  • Where do norms I never added come from? They are platform examples with the «Example» status: numbers from conversations with production, for example a gather of ×3. Check them, then approve them or copy them to the studio and adjust.
  • Why does the calculator not see my norm? A calculator shows the norms of its own section with a matching unit. Check the section, the consumption unit and the price unit.
  • Why is my norm copy version 2 or 3? If the studio already has a norm with this code (you copied it before or saved its price in the decor calculator), a new copy becomes its next version, not a second norm. This way the calculator always has one studio price.

Norms in the mobile app

  1. Open «Production», then «Price list and norms». Use the category, the search and the status to find the norm you need.
  2. Check the consumption, the units, the price, the applicability, the source and the version. An example is not an approved norm.
  3. Tap «New norm» or copy a platform norm to your studio.
  4. Changing the current norm creates the next version for review. Check it and tap «Approve». The earlier values are available in the history.
  • Approving a norm applies to a specific version of the consumption and the price. It does not approve an estimate or a construction. Earlier calculations keep their earlier versions.
  • If the answer is lost, check the library and the history before creating one more record.
