Cutting layouts: files for a milling machine, a laser and a plotter

How to use it

1. Open the order, the «Prepare for the workshop» stage, and press «Add a layout» (or «Open cutting layouts») on the «Cutting layouts» card. The tool is marked «Beta».
2. Press «Add a layout», choose a file and say «What cuts it»: «Milling machine», «Laser» or «Plotter». The name is taken from the file name and can be replaced.
3. Fill in «Material», «Thickness, mm» and «Quantity», and if you like a «Note for the workshop» (up to 500 characters). Press «Add».
4. The layouts stand in groups by the way of cutting. Each shows the material with its thickness, the number of copies, the note and the file. «Download» saves the file, «Replace the file» puts a new one in place of the old one, «Change» edits the fields, «Delete» removes the layout together with its file.

Files and limits

• DXF, DWG, SVG, AI, EPS, PDF, CDR, PLT, PNG and JPG are accepted. AURA checks the extension and the start of the file, and how the machine reads it is for the workshop to decide.
• The layout file is kept in the «Order files» and counts toward the project storage limit. If you delete it there, the layout gets the mark «The file was removed from the order files», and the file can be uploaded again.
• An order can hold up to 200 cutting layouts.

Layouts in the workshop task

• The «Workshop task» shows the layouts in a block of their own, «Cutting layouts»: the name, the way of cutting, the material with its thickness, the file and the quantity. There are no prices, so members without prices see the block too. The «Open layouts» link leads to the tool.

Beta: available to everyone

• «Cutting layouts» work under the same beta key as «Drawings» and have been open to every account since 23 October 2026, no invitation needed. In an order only the owner and editors see the tool. An AURA administrator can close the module again to everyone except invited people on the «Beta access» tab: if you do not see the tool, write to support.
• The «Beta feedback» button in the tool header sends the AURA team short feedback: what you noticed and what gets in the way.

Frequently asked questions

• How are «Cutting layouts» different from «Printing»? «Printing» prepares a layout for a print shop: colour, resolution, a banner. «Cutting layouts» keep files for machines that cut material.
• Where do I download an uploaded layout? The «Download» button on the layout; the file itself also lies in the «Order files».
• Can I replace the file without losing the material and the quantity? Yes, the «Replace the file» button changes only the file.
