Product editor and formulas

How to assemble a product

1. Open «Production» and «Products» in the header. The studio's products are at the top, «AURA examples» below.
2. Click «New product» to start from scratch, or «Make a variant» at a ready product: the variant gets the same composition and becomes a separate product of the studio, the original does not change.
3. In «Main», name the product and give its section. «Other names, comma separated» help the brief helper find the product.
4. In the «Parameter form», add what a person enters when counting: length, height, number of shelves, finishing, cladding material. «Name in formulas» is the word the parameter goes by in formulas, «Question in the form» is the label for the person.
5. In «Variables», write intermediate results such as the perimeter or the number of sections, so one formula is not repeated in several lines.
6. In «Product composition», add lines: a name, a kind (material, work, outsourced), a material or a work from the library and a quantity formula. «More» opens waste, rounding, a condition, the work centre, the markup and the rest.
7. At the bottom, «Check on test sizes»: enter sizes and click «Check». AURA shows every mistake with its place and counts the product as the calculator will. Nothing is saved.
8. «Save draft» saves the product, but the calculator does not count with it yet. «Publish» saves and publishes: from then on the product is in the decor calculator and in the order's estimate.

Example: a corner counter from the bar counter

1. In «Products», at the example «Bar counter» click «Make a variant», name it «Corner bar counter» and click «Create variant». The editor opens with the counter's composition.
2. In the form click «Add a parameter»: name in formulas «Длина_угла», the question «Length of the second side», unit mm, default 1200.
3. In the variables, add the second side where the length is counted: the formula of «Рамки_м» becomes «2*(2*(Длина+Длина_угла)+2*Глубина*Число_секций)», the formula of «Площадь_обшивки» becomes «(Длина+Длина_угла)*Высота+2*Глубина*Высота».
4. In the composition click «Add a composition line»: the name «Corner joint», the kind of work, welding by joints from the library list, the quantity formula «4».
5. At the bottom enter the length 3000, the second side 1200 and click «Check». If there is a mistake, click it in the list: AURA opens the right line and underlines the place in the formula.
6. Click «Publish». The corner counter appears in the decor calculator next to the bar counter, and the bar counter stays as it was.

Parameters and units

• A size in mm is entered in millimetres and is in metres inside formulas: 3000 mm is 3. So «2*(Длина+Глубина)» gives the perimeter in metres right away. Percentages in formulas are fractions: 10% is 0.1.
• The type «Choice of options» keeps a value for formulas and a label for the person. In a formula an option is compared with text in quotes: «ЕСЛИ(Отделка="film";1;0)».
• The type «Material of the library» lets the person pick a sheet, a roll or a profile when counting. In formulas it brings the sizes of the chosen material in metres: «Обшивка_длина_листа», «Обшивка_ширина_листа», «Профиль_длина_хлыста», «Плёнка_ширина_рулона».
• Rename a parameter or a variable and its name changes in every formula of the product; AURA says in how many.
• «From the drawing» puts the width, height or depth of the order's drawing into a parameter in mm when the product is counted in an order.

How to write formulas

• Formulas are written as in Russian Excel: a decimal comma or point (1,5 and 1.5), function arguments separated by semicolons, the signs + - * / ^ and the comparisons = <> < > <= >=. An = at the start is optional.
• Names of parameters and variables are written as in the form; case does not matter. As you type, AURA offers names and functions: pick one with the arrow keys and press Enter.
• Logical conditions: «И(Длина>2;Высота>1)», «ИЛИ(...)», «НЕ(...)». True counts as 1, false as 0.
• AURA checks the formula as you type. A mistake is shown under the field: the place is underlined, with a hint next to it such as a similar name of the product.

Functions

• IF, written «ЕСЛИ(условие;да;нет)»: «ЕСЛИ(Полок>0;Полок*Длина;0)». The branch that is not needed is not counted, so «ЕСЛИ(Глубина=0;0;1/Глубина)» never divides by zero.
• MIN and MAX: «МАКС(1;ОКРУГЛВВЕРХ(Длина/3;0))».
• «ОКРУГЛ», «ОКРУГЛВВЕРХ» and «ОКРУГЛВНИЗ» round to a number of digits, as in Excel. «ОКРВВЕРХ» and «ОКРВНИЗ» round to a multiple: «ОКРВВЕРХ(Длина;0,5)». Also «ЦЕЛОЕ», ABS, «КОРЕНЬ», «ПИ()».
• For production: «ЛИСТОВ(площадь;ширина;длина;10%)» and «РУЛОНОВ(...)» count whole sheets or rolls with waste, «ХЛЫСТОВ(длина;длина хлыста;5%)» whole bars, «ДЛИНА_ОКРУЖНОСТИ(диаметр)» and «ПЛОЩАДЬ_КРУГА(диаметр)» for round products.
• English names work too: IF, MIN, MAX, ROUND, ROUNDUP, ROUNDDOWN, CEILING, FLOOR, INT, SQRT, PI.

Formula examples

• Perimeter in metres: «2*(Длина+Глубина)».
• Front area in m²: «Длина*Высота».
• Number of sections when the counter comes apart and the truck body is 3 m: «ЕСЛИ(Разборная;МАКС(1;ОКРУГЛВВЕРХ(Длина/3;0));1)».
• Frame profile in 6 m bars: «ХЛЫСТОВ(2*(Длина+Глубина)*2+4*Высота;6;5%)».
• Film lamination only with the film finish: in the line's condition «Отделка="film"», in the quantity «Длина*Высота».
• A warning about a joint against the chosen sheet: the rule «Длина>Обшивка_длина_листа» with the text «Longer than the sheet: there will be a joint».

Composition: material, quantity, waste

• A material or a work is picked from the studio's library («Materials», «Works and rates») and kept in the product by its code. Rename the material or change its price and the product keeps counting with it: the editor shows the new name. The code is shown under the line.
• Instead of a library row you can pick a material parameter of the form: then the material is chosen when counting, for example «Cladding: MDF 16 or plywood 18».
• The quantity is counted by a formula, by parts from sheets (width, height and number of parts, cut with kerf and grain) or by coats of paint (the area and the number of coats, each coat with its own material).
• «More» at a line: the condition under which the line counts; whether the line is always in, in by default with an option to switch it off, or an option; waste in percent and rounding to purchase units; cost by consumption or by whole sheets; where the line comes from (make, stock, rent, buy, outsourced); the work centre, the markup category and the lead time.
• A line without a material or with a material without a price counts as «no price» and is not in the total; the breakdown shows it.

Check and mistakes

• «Check» reads every formula, material code and field of the product. A list «What to fix before publishing» appears above the editor: click a mistake and AURA opens the right block and line and puts the cursor in the field.
• A mistake in a formula blocks publishing: «Publish» saves the draft, shows the list of mistakes and highlights the first place. A draft with a mistake can be saved.
• Frequent mistakes: an unknown name (a typo or a renamed parameter), a comma instead of a semicolon between arguments, an unclosed bracket, a division by zero, a variable that refers to itself through others (a cycle), a material code the library does not have.
• On test sizes you see the full breakdown: the total, the cost, the price, each line with its formula, values and steps, what is not in the total and why.

Draft, publishing and versions

• A published version never changes. An edit of a published product is saved as the next version's draft, and the calculator counts with the previous one until you publish the new one. Saved calculations and estimates remember their version.
• The studio's products are changed by its owner. An AURA example opens for viewing and checking only: to edit it, make a variant or copy the example to the studio.
• If a product is edited in two windows at once, the second save is told the product has already been changed: reload the page.

Beta: open to everyone

• The «Products» section in the Production header and the editor are part of professional-level production. Since 7 October 2026 they are open to everyone, no invitation needed.

Frequent questions

• How is «Products» different from the «Product library» in the calculator? The library in the calculator shows the list and lets you publish, copy and change the prices by table. The composition, formulas and form are changed in «Products».
• Can a product be assembled from a description? Yes, «Draft from a description» in «Products» assembles a draft from your materials; then fix it in the editor and publish.
• Why does a line say «no price»? No material is chosen, the material has no price in the library, or its price cannot be converted into the line's unit. The reason is in the breakdown.
• Where do I get a material code? Pick the material from the list: the code is filled in and shown under the line.
